First Book Club Discussion
GOOD MORNING! And welcome to our first book discussion!🎉
This is where I’ll post questions and everyone can post and share in response. You can ask your own questions about the book as well. Remember, we want to keep this an open and free place to share, so confidentiality is a must and always kind words of course. ❤️
To get us started this morning, here’s a general question.... WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT THE WORD “TRIGGER” WHAT COMES TO MIND FOR YOU?
Stella had an “exorcist” reaction to her triggers. What about you?
Have an amazing day!! 😁
If you haven't gotten your copy, order an eBook at Amazon.com or get your paperback book at Play Tall Tools | Patsy Burdine - Play Tall Not Small (playtalltoday.com)
When I get triggered, I tense up and start talking really fast and become very expressive 🤷🏻♀️🤣
This is going to take me a few days. :)
Now that we've discovered what it looks like when you PLAY SMALL....
Let's learn how to start PLAYING TALL!
First - what is it that you what from life, your relationships, your business, yourself. List everything on your own.
THEN - list HERE all the thoughts, feelings and mindsets you believe you would need to get you there.
(hint - sometimes it helps to think of someone who is where you would like to be. What thoughts, feelings and mindsets do you believe they possess.)
Feeling more confident in my decisions, leading to less worrying and less anxiety.
NEXT QUESTION......
The trigger can be anything, anyone, any situation. It causes a reaction - like running or being paralyzed, like Margaret & Rachel shared, following by feelings like overwhelm or claustrophobia.
HERE'S WHAT WE NEED TO ASK:
Where will I end up if I continue to feel this way, respond this way to whatever my trigger is?
Share what your future would look like.....👀
Not an unusual trigger response Rachel. When we feel unsafe we instinctively respond with fight (outburst), flight (running) or freeze (stop breathing, paralyzed). And you’ve started to learn the answer!!! Reminding your brain that you ARE safe, you CAN do this. Congratulations! The more you recognize, release, retrain and repeat - the faster the process gets and less likely it happens again🎉💗
I literally can’t breathe. I start to feel overwhelmed and the words “I can’t “ come into my mind, and I have to force myself to say out loud I can do this!
LET'S KEEP GOING!!
Let's talk more about those triggers - while trigger might by "trigger" anything for you 🤣 it doesn't mean you don't get stuck or have a response that doesn't benefit you!
Maybe it's people, conversations, work, goals, deadlines, relationships, projects, new experiences - but we all get stuck!
Open your mind and answer these questions:
Where do I get stuck? where do I trip up all the time? Where do I consistently feel like I fall short? Where do I hold myself back?
Write it out on paper first, it might be more effective. Then share here and get some free coaching about it😊
I start to feel claustrophobic and want to run away.
